INspireality: Recognition

~Recognition~

Today, i want to share a story with you.
As i hope that it will inspire you, the way it has inspired and still is inspiring me.

The story is about a young man, a young man who is so busy doing what society learned him: working, working hard, longing for recognition, wanting more and more.. that the young man became unhappy. Unhappy as his desire for regonition was not fulfilled. The promotion he wanted for quite some time, was not given. The young man became frustrated, irritated and even a bit angry.

Last week, after two years, the young man finally got his recognition. He got a promotion (the one he wanted for years) and probally even a bonus! Hearing this, you would think the man was very happy. But quess what?! he was not. The young man realized that he was not that happy as i he had expected for quite some time and was also surprised, probably just like you are right now… Let me explain why.

The reason and also the secret is that the young man in the mean time had let go. Let go of what he was learned and more important of that which he always thought he wanted. The realization of not needing the recogniotion to be happy (which was learned by society) and therefore also not wanting the recognotion, was the key. The key for him to be happy, even without the recognition he desired so bad. So when the recognition finally came, he wasn’t that happy because he was already happy. Happy with the way his life is instead of wanting it to be different. He had accepted the situation, stopped fighting against it, he had let go of the thoughts of needing and wanting, so the huge desire that was always there was gone. He had started to ride and shine and love the situation as it is. The young man started to be happy again and started to love himself again. The young man lived and smiled. He had really let go.
And at that very moment, that realization, by making that decision, he choose himself. Himself instant of society.
